When it comes to gun rights, perhaps we are living in historical times. We now observe firearm sales sky high, prices for guns and ammunition increase almost daily, a senator was elected president who's voting record is more anti-gun, and all of this in the mist of a great triumph for gun rights in the Supreme Court. The question, however, is whose philosophy is right, and furthermore, do both sides of the argument have a philosophy? The 2008 Presidential Election was a depressing one for 2nd Amendment supporters. Due to the fact that both candidates received a grade of "F" from Gun Owner's Of America. However, Obama's voting record for gun control is far worst than John McCain's. According to the National Rifle Association and Gun Owner's Of America web site, Obama voted anti-gun almost all the time. From protecting gun dealers from frivolous lawsuits to being able to carry a concealed weapon, Obama voted anti-gun. He even voted against allowing the right to protect yourself with a firearm. With this anti-gun mentality it brings many people to wonder if the 2nd Amendment has a future. When you type in "gun sales up" on Google News, you will see reports from across the country from Colorado to Pennsylvania of historically high gun sales. Speculation and fear for what is about to come are driving these sales. I've witnessed some of these high sales myself. I was shopping in a Virginia gun store and noticed the parking lot was packed and there was a line to the counter. Not unusual on a weekend near the holidays, but this was on a tuesday shortly after the election. I got to talking with the sales associate and not to my surprise he told me they sold 25 AR-15 assault rifles in one day. He began to remind me of Obama's voting record, where he wants to ban assault rifles, the reason for the surge in assault rifle sales. I also frequently purchase the Trading Post to see if there are any good firearm deals. After highlighting a dozen or so, I began to call the sellers of the firearms. Again, not to my surprise every single person I called had already sold their firearms within a day or so or publishing the ad.
