Obama Voters: Do they really know what he stands for? Print E-mail

Well if your a person of logic and sense, the answer is of course not. Obviously not everyone feels that way though; so John Zogby decided to find out just what people knew.

First off read this:

UTICA, New York -- Just 2% of voters who supported Barack Obama on Election Day obtained perfect or near-perfect scores on a post election test which gauged their knowledge of statements and scandals associated with the presidential tickets during the campaign, a new Zogby International telephone poll shows.

So it looks like only 2% really did the due diligence to make sure they are voting for the person who stands for what they do. Now that my friend is sad.

Only 54% of Obama voters were able to answer at least half or more of the questions correctly.

The 12-question, multiple-choice survey found questions regarding statements linked to Republican presidential candidate John McCain and his vice-presidential running-mate Sarah Palin were far more likely to be answered correctly by Obama voters than questions about statements associated with Obama and Vice-President–Elect Joe Biden.

Very interesting, that is still very sad that only 54% can get half of the questions. I would feel lied to, like the media voted for me making me believe that Obama is "the one."

"After I interviewed Obama voters on Election Day for my documentary, I had a pretty low opinion of what most of them had picked up from the media coverage of the campaign, but this poll really proves beyond any doubt the stunning level of malpractice on the part of the media in not educating the Obama portion of the voting populace," said Ziegler.

83% failed to correctly answer that Obama had won his first election by getting all of his opponents removed from the ballot, and 88% did not correctly associate Obama with his statement that his energy policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry. Most (56%) were also not able to correctly answer that Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground.

Nearly three quarters (72%) of Obama voters did not correctly identify Biden as the candidate who had to quit a previous campaign for President because he was found to have plagiarized a speech, and nearly half (47%) did not know that Biden was the one who predicted Obama would be tested by a generated international crisis during his first six months as President.

In addition to questions regarding statements and scandals associated with the campaigns, the 12-question, multiple-choice survey also included a question asking which political party controlled both houses of Congress leading up to the election -- 57% of Obama voters were unable to correctly answer that Democrats controlled both the House and the Senate.

So lets see here, most did not realize that Obama won his first election by using the legal system to remove them all from the ballot. Is that really winning an election when you do that? I mean if I win in a marathon where no one else was competing is it really still winning? I know that I would not feel that it is a true win.

Very surprising that so many did not realize that Biden quit his presidential campaign due to plagiarism.

You would think with such die hard followers that they would at least learn about the candidate they support. It sounds so crazy to me that people would not research before voting. I tend to take everything I hear on the television or radio with a grain of salt. I refuse to speak on a subject until I have done my research to ensure it is fact and not just hearsay.

It sounds to me like the American population bought into the media bias (like we didn't already know that) and the tactic worked obviously. I know anyone with a brain is telling me; Lance, this is nothing new to us. I just want to point out the sheer power that the media really has, and just swayed the average American really is.

So many were tired of Bush, and it was all about no more Republicans than it was about finding a president that will do a good job. Oddly enough as it turns out Barack Obama may follow in the same steps at least when it comes to some of the tatics used by Bush in the war on terrorism.

Like I have said before, we will see how this mess turns out. Mark my words, I do believe that a good amount of Barack Obama supporters will be unpleasantly surprised when things do not go as expected.
